This opinion paper discusses subjective natu- ral language problems in terms of their mo- tivations, applications, characterizations, and implications. It argues that such problems de- serve increased attention because of their po- tential to challenge the status of theoretical understanding, problem-solving methods, and evaluation techniques in computational lin- guistics. The author supports a more holis- tic approach to such problems; a view that extends beyond opinion mining or sentiment analysis.
